Total Waste Management (TWM) has been a Papua New Guinean service provider to the PNG LNG project since 2012 and has grown from a small waste and environmental service provider to a company that continues to set the benchmark for waste management in the country.
“The PNG LNG Project has paved the way for TWM to become a market leader in waste management services in PNG and further expansion and capacity building is the outcome from this partnership,” said Kori Chan, General Manager for TWM.
After witnessing the ongoing education and training opportunities offered by ExxonMobil PNG, the management at TWM recognised that their operators, though rich in experience, were in need of formal training and qualifications that would help them realise their potential.
With the support of ExxonMobil PNG TWM engaged a registered training organisation to provide their plant operators with formal training and qualifications in water operations.
Today, the company services metropolitan and remote locations around Papua New Guinea and employs more than 80 full time staff. It’s also continuing to expand and invest in innovative waste services and technology to continue to meet global benchmarks and standards.
The company’s success in building a world class environmental services platform for Papua New Guinea and its fresh and innovative approach to waste and environmental services is recognised by ExxonMobil PNG. TWM manages several waste water treatment plants across PNG LNG Project sites.
The contribution PNG businesses have made to ExxonMobil PNG’s success is considerable, and grows year on year as the skills and capacity of local companies increase.
Sixteen landowner companies and some 250 non-lanco businesses provide services ranging from labour hire, maintenance, transportation, fuel distribution, container freighting, vegetable supplies, security, freight and logistics, maintenance services and customs clearance.
